About this experience

Discover the joy of working with clay in this 2-hour ceramics workshop in Lisbon, held at our creative atelier in Arroios, one of the city’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.

In this hands-on pottery workshop in Lisbon, you’ll learn the ancestral pinching technique — one of the oldest ways of shaping clay, using nothing but your hands. No previous experience is needed: just come ready to experiment, slow down and let the clay guide you.

You’ll create your own unique ceramic piece while exploring texture, shape and form. Once your piece is finished, you’ll have the option to decorate it using ceramic underglazes. We’ll then fire and glaze your piece, so it can be collected once it’s ready.

Whether you’re looking for a creative thing to do in Lisbon, a hands-on experience while travelling, or simply a different way to spend an afternoon in the city, this workshop is an invitation to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with your hands.

Includes:

  • 2 hours of workshop
  • all the necessary materials and tools
  • firing (first oven batch) and glazing

Post-baking pieces are ready in 4 weeks for pick up, we will email you to let you know the date, or a shipping quote can be provided if needed. Please note that we can only keep pieces 2 months after you have been notified.

Anyone, with or without experience in ceramics, can attend our workshops.

About Mitó Creative Site

Sara Matos Ferreira is the founder of Mitó Creative Site in Lisbon. After an early career in environmental engineering and the construction industry, Sara made a life-changing shift towards creativity and craftsmanship, following years of volunteer work in Mozambique and a renewed connection with her artistic passions.

She combines her love for ceramics, jewellery and the visual arts, sharing her knowledge through workshops that celebrate creativity, hands-on learning and the joy of making things with your own hands.
